I love the movie Blade Runner, I've seen it over 100 times, and you know me I love being a robot. So when I found out there was a Blade Runner SIM I jumped all over it. I changing into my cyber punk mohawk robot look and did a photo shoot. My good friend CROW Dagger join me on the adventure and took many shots, here are a few. Enjoy! =]

La Casa de Dulces -- Kandyland Expansion!

One day while chilling on my beach parcel I began to think how nice it would be to have more space. I purchased my small corner water front parcel in the beginning of the year about a month after rezzing, and I always had the intention to expand either on my current SIM or move to a larger one. My neighbor next to me, who I only meet once in 7 months, had defaulted on her tier, and both of her parcels were seized by the Azure Islands Covenant. These parcels are directly next to me on the east side of the island. Then one day my other neighbor Atena Ah IMed me about another parcel on the northwest corner of the SIM being empty. She seem very concerned about this, she didn’t like the idea that a third of our home island was empty. We both began to lament on how nice it would be to have more space, and I told her I was very interested in expanding and I would be willing to buy the empty parcel next to me.

Her and I walked around the parcels getting a lay of the land when she proposed that she buy the larger empty one if I could purchase her parcel, which is on the west side of me. I told her I was fine with either, I just wanted to expand and it didn’t matter to me if it was south or west. A few weeks later we made the deal, and she moved into the empty parcel and I bought her land… The expansion was on!

Now before I made the purchase I did some planning. I needed to outfit my beachfront and I wanted to buy a steam punk airship. I already had some Tiki gear on my current parcel, a couple of huts and a pair of waterfalls that I purchased from Waterfall World - Tiki Beach - G. I really love the style and quality, but shop was limited in it’s selections. That’s when I start SIM jumping to look for quality Tiki gear. I found two really good places Bloomin' Solutions by JC Designs and * Tiki - Tiki * ! – Store, all my additional tiki purchase came from those two places. From JC Designs I bought a three level gazebo with built in tiki torches, and from the Tiki Store I picked up a romantic campfire that I set in the sand. I also picked up various beach accessories like palm trees, easter island heads, hamocks and rafts. It was tons of fun exploring these sim stores and picking out items.

The month before I started to expand I picked up a giant scripted squid and had dreams of giving him a place to swim, so I deceide to sink my smaller parcel into the ground and let it full with water. Terra forming is so much fun, I loved controlling my enivornment in that way. It was like a Second Life earthquake that I was manipulating. I drop the floor down just deep and wide enough to let my giant squid roam freely in all directions without breaking the water surface. I then went shopping for more wild life and underwater plants. I got the squid from ><)))"> Splash Aquatics <")))>< so I went back there. I got a sea turtle and a spider crab. I then picked up a small cluster sea anemone made by Angus Mesmer, these anemone are very cool. Their shape, color and glow are visually pleasing. I then added some chill out seats, beds and bubbles to the pool for underwater hanging. Miss Queen Coronet was very kind to sprinkle cool pose bubbles around the pool as well, it's become a very nice place to chill.

I then started my steam punk airship search. I had seen some platform vendors on the Steam Forge SIM so I went there to investigate. I found an image of the perfect party deck so I took the note card and tped to **~Illuminated Por t of Freemen~** Steampunk Airships. I found the ship parked in the water, I walked on and fell in love and I bought instantly. I came back to my land and rez it right away. It came in two parts so I laid them down on the sand and then flew them up to 454m up in the air. I had to piece the two halves together which was a little tricky high up, but I managed to get them linked. I then went on my furniture quest, my goals were steam punk, high quality and low prim. I came across many different pieces of furniture on my hunt but I settled on a few key items. I bought a Havana Bed with matching lounge chair and leather love seat and chairs set from Victorian Antiques Furniture. Then I purchased a room divider, sofa, lounger and coffee table set from Ambrosia ~ High Quality Old Style Furniture. Then I bought my a western saloon style bar from Fishbelly's Guitar Shop and Steamworx.

I visited many steam punk sims on that trek and I found I really to love the style. I identify with the concept of blending past and future. Those to states of existence are mere images in our brains, memories and visions, and steam punk culture brings it to them to the tangible present. It's not just an SL thing, it's a RL movement that is gaining a following. I guess it's also the urban city girl in me, see the preservation of whats been before while forging toward the future.

I really had blast setting up my place, my intention was to create a relaxing fun environment that all can enjoy. I plan on having many parties here so be on the look out for a flyer or two that will be pop up here in the near future. =]

In real life you are born with the skin and shape that your parents gave you, they are set and only change as you grow and get older, and they play a major role in your existence. You are loved, noticed, and judged because of your outward appearance, and you have no control over that unless you go under the knife. In Second Life you are able to change your skin and shape the same you way you change clothes. You have the ability to be a shape shifter, be whatever you want to be whenever you want, with in seconds you can go from being a sexy female avatar to a huge fire-breathing dragon. You can have white Gothic skin or dark black skin and all in between. Some people change skin and shape all the time, while some never do. Some feel it’s as personal as RL, while others don’t tie emotion to their avatars appearance.

Skins in Second Life are some of the most expensive items to buy, just as expensive as prefab homes, or dazzling gems. Some people make their skin from templates provided by Linden Labs, but it’s very tricky to get them right. You have to worry about things lining up correctly and making sure the tone is even; all while having enough detail to make it look realistic. Not to mention creating different makeup styles. I tried once to create my own skin, but I did not have the time or the energy to get it perfect.

On the second day of being in SL I started my first freebie hunt, and I found my shape in a modifiable version and my starter skin. Shy Caramelle was the name of my first skin, it came in 5 makeup looks and it was very pretty for freebie skin. I told myself I would not buy a skin until I found the right one, so I wore Shy Caramelle for about two months. Then one day Lavender Jewell teleported me to 2008’s skin fair. I was having computer issues that day, so things were rezzing really slow for me, and I really could not move around much. Lavendar told me that the whole sim was full of skin shops and it was the last day of the fair, so I had to find something that day. Because of my computer issues I really didn’t feel like exploring or camming around, so I walked into the shop directly in front of me and said “if my skin is not here then I’m not buying today”.

As I stood in the entrance of LF Chai two of the skins on display rezzed for me, they were Diabla and Gunmetal. Diabla is a smoky eyes red lipstick look and Gunmetal is also smoky eyed but with black lipstick, I fell love in with the detail and quality of the makeup styles. Then I cammed around and found the perfect tone for me… Honey! I purchased on the spot, I didn’t even hesitate, it was the best purchase I’ve made in SL. These skins changed the whole game for me, I no longer looked like a cartoon, now I was an avatar. After about two months of only switching between Diabla and Gunmetal I decided to go and buy more makeup looks. So I searched out the landmark and I tped to the shop. Since then I have purchased over 30 of Launa Fauna’s Chai skins.

Launa Fauna not only creates skins, she makes clothes too, LF Fashions = cute outfits and dresses, but I love the skins the best. She is a master at creating great makeup styles and the tones are flawless. LF Chai is having a sale that only goes till tomorrow and I have been buying like crazy during the sale, but I will always purchase LF skins on sale… or not. They have become my look and as long as Miss Launa Fauna keeps creating makeup styles I will keep buying her skins. =]

When I started DigitalDoll.tv I had no idea that I would take on the title of Digital Doll so literally. I first considered Kandy Roussel the digital equivalent of a Barbie or paper cut doll while shopping in Swallowtail for some jewelry. I was checking out all the items in the store when I found a free gold wind-up-key vendor on the floor. Now I just love free stuff, even if I will never wear or use, I will always take free stuff. I really had no intention of using the key, I just got it in case I find the right look for it. But once I purchased and put it on... at that moment it all clicked on my head. This wind-up-key was the missing element in my SL existence. It is to be my niche, my creative expression of who I'm inside SL and they way I feel in RL. I started to wear this gold key with all looks that matched, but that was a limited selection of outfits. So my quest began to find more doll parts and looks. I ran a search for doll parts, and one of my favorite stores popped up high on the list, LPP (Le Petite Prince) Steampunk Shop. I had bought copper light bulb neko ears and a copper spring tail from LPP, but I had never wore before. I figured I would find the right look for them first. Well that look was about to start taking shape.

I was first introduced to the Steam Punk look by my good friend Lonetorus Habilis. When we first meet her look was steam punk. I thought she was the coolest avatar in SL, (and I still think that now she's a radioactive neko), and I was impressed with the detail and quality of her attachments. At the time I didn't know her look was a specific style, in fact I had never heard of steam punk till being in SL. I later found that it's an RL movement as well, really big in Japan, London and NYC. Needless to say it's very cool, and I'm all about it now. I consider Kandy a Steam Punk - Neko - Wind-up doll. Her internal organs are cogs, springs and gears, and hot steam runs through her virtual veins. Over time I started to collect steam punk outfits, and I went back to LPP to buy more copper attachments. My next purchases were the digital doll steam powered engine that I wear on my back, and a set of rocket boosters that are worn on the hips. I wear those attachments with almost all the steam punk looks I could piece together. I've been having a blast sim jumping and store hunting. I've discovered some great places in SL, like Leagues main store on the Steam Forge - Steampunk Epicente, FairChang Lost Isle. That sim is the best steam punk mall around, I even bought my Steam Punk Air Ship from there. You could create entire steam punk life style from this one sim alone.

So in my hunt for the ultimate digital doll attachments and clothing I came across Curio Obscura on Rendervision Isle. I was looking for robot and cyborg attachments when I walking into an outlet shop of Curio Obscura, and I discovered on the wall to the left what I had been dreaming of and hoping to find... Robot skin! These skins are well detailed and come in 8 colors. They are sexy and feminine. I love the copper and the rust versions for my steam punk engine powered look. I even purchased Curio Obscura's sausage curls hair style which goes perfect with the skin. This skin, hair and the LPP attachments were a match made in heaven, they work very well together. My next quest was finding the perfect boots for the look. While I was working at Deizha one day I meet Hed Williams who creates and sells neko gear, ([HS] Stores Neko Ropes Camo and Ink Inc.). He gave me one of his store's flyers with a set of boots on it and I TPed at that moment to purchase them. They are also the perfect touch for my digital doll look.

Ok... once I had the look I needed the right AO, Kandy's AO was way to sexy and seductive for this avatar. I needed something submissive and vulnerable. Bridgitte told me about a shop that sold doll AOs... broken down doll AOs! So we went to ANA_Mations and I bought the BrokenDoll AO, she bought a music box ballerina AO. I was so excited to get these animations and wear them.

The idea of a broken down doll is not new to me, in the modeling industry it's a state of mind when trying to get a provocative shot. Photographers and stylist try to achieve the broken doll essence with models all the time. The movements create lines, curves and emotions not possible with typical model poses. Being a broken doll is also something I identify with, I'm a bit of a broken doll in RL, but I can't go around being a slumped over robot in RL. LOL! So Kandy has embodied that character for me. =]

Miss Bridgitte Boucher, the better half of the DJ Init Beat Junkie team, is stepping out on her her own and doing it for herself. DJ. P Briddy has hit the SL club scene in full force. With a little assistant from her big boss, this spinnderella is going to be the one to keep an ear on. She's got a mixer, a stream, loads tunes and tons of courage, this lady is becoming a club scene triplet threat; Promoter, Hostess, and DJ. Bridgitte has a fortunate advantage over other DJs trying to break into the scene, she's been handling The Dope Man's affairs for sometime now, so she knows the ins and outs of SL clubs. She's friends with all the right people, and everyone just adores her. She's one the nicest people I know in Second Life, and she's about to be one of the baddest DJs I know, bad as in !!!!!HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! =]

Ok, I missed her debut set, but I had the pleasure of hearing a full set at Home. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, this woman had a command over that mixer. She worked the decks with finesse and is creating her style. I can hear the start of something great, she's got the idea, now it's a matter of her developing her swing. She has been prepped and primed by her mentor Init Hubble, he's even seeded her with tunes to start off right. This day at Home she rocked the crowd with some of the best tunes on the market, and all the friends showed to support this new start up venture. Everyone was there to show the love and listen to this soon to be mix master in action. Even Init was there like a proud papa at his babies graduation.

Bridgitte is a natural, she understands song selection and flow, she's getting the mix down tight too. I'm afraid of what will happen... I think she gonna get so good these boys are gonna be running for cover, she's gonna hit it just so that it will hurt... good! I can't wait till her next set, I know she's been practicing, planning and plotting. One day she will just kill it and people will lose their minds. Keep up the good work lady, it's only gonna get better and better. =]

I know I’ve said house music is a difficult sound to spin in SL. I think It’s hard for a DJ to make it feel real, raw and cutting edge, and not dull and cheesy. Most house tracks are designed to move a real life crowd listening on huge surround sound speakers with the bass bumping on full blast, or pool side on a lounger watching sexy bodies pass by. Only true house masters that have been spinning for years can mix from their couch and move a crowd listening on streams all over the world. Devee Voom, of Hed Kandi fame, is one of those DJs.

Devee is an SL House DJing God! He works his skills and charm with the finesse of a true house master at work. He’s library is massive, he has access to the best house tunes ever made, years and years of music. I bet if he were to do a marathon DJ session and played his entire music collection he would be spinning for a year. This guy knows what he is doing, and in my opinion he’s the one and only true House DJ in SL. He is the best, A #1, numero uno, no one else like him, a true House Master. Other DJs can only wish they were as good as him, and those DJ’s listen to him in amazement. Devee is able to make it real, raw and so cutting edge it hurts, he works me in a sweat every time I hear him. His selections are the best House has to offer, and they should be he’s the core Hed Kandi rep in SL. Anytime Devee spins people come flocking because they know he serves nothing but the best. Come check him out at Deizha, Devee Voom is not to be missed. =]

I was shaking my tail on the dance floor at Home when I get an inventory offer from TruthSeeker Young. I accepted and let the image rezz on my screen. Right before the image loaded into full focus I get an IM from Truth with these words... "this place is a Buddhist nightmare", that's when the image reviled it's self; Blood, fire and pain. Naked sculpted avatars being bludgeoned by huge gorilla demons, screaming and running naked in all directions. OMG! Truth then said... "it's a blowup doll genocide", and then asked if I wanted to see the SIM for myself. Well... Mr. Young was standing on a platform really close to the edge when he TPed me, so when I jumped into the SIM I had no place to land and I fell into a fire pit. I got up close and personal with one of the demon lords stomping souls. Truth then apologizes for not bringing me in safely, but hey no problem, this is SL you can't die... you can just experience. I then flew up to where he was and perched in a spot to get a good view of the carnage.

This place is sick and fascinating at the same time. Sick for all the obvious reasons. Fascinating because who the hell would build such a place? Oh... it's a Japanese SIM. Those crazy kids.... Some one actually bought a server and is paying a tier to maintain a Hades simulator. WOW! I think that's the most amazing aspect of this place, some one thought this was a good idea, they created the scripts, built out the SIM and designed the carnage. This place is very detailed in it's genocide and destruction. The gorilla demons are huge and scary, the sculpted avatars are sad and pitiful, falling dead at your feet. The sounds and music are just as creepy and nauseating. I had to turn my sound off, they were not pleasant noises. All around me was death, it looked like the earths core surfaced in some major city and the gates of hell were opened. On the edges of the SIM are building ruins, and melted mountains.

Truth and I just stood there and watched to craziness all around us. There is nothing like standing in the middle of a killing field to make me thankful that I only fear God and believe in the hope of life. Maybe this place was a way for it's creator to release bent up frustrations, I'm glad they are doing it in SL and not RL. And, here's another profound thought, the person who brought me here is a truth seeker, a beautiful creative transcendent being of the universe. Someone I admire and respect, so I was a bit surprised that he would be in a such place. But again his name is TruthSeeker, and knowing all, good and bad, is his way. I've been back to this SIM a few more times since to exposes others to it, but I don't need to explore it further. And, to be honest... I hope it goes away soon.

Blow Up Doll Genocide!

Today was the Full Moon Party in Haad Rin Thailand, and the owners of the Second Life Sim with the same name organized an SL / RL bridge event. The audio streams from the SL DJ's was being blasted to a crowd of 6000 party goers on the beach in Thailand. The RL event takes place on the desert island named Koh Phangan and the organizers have a monthly full moon party in the club Haad Rin. Second Life's Haad Rin is a mirror of the real life space, and tunes being served up to SL avatars were also being served to the crazy club heads in Thailand. I love these kind of events, it's such a great concept, they are the first steps toward the merging of the two existences.

This particular event was very special to me because it will be the first time I got a chance to hear Twain Decosta in action. I was very excited because people had been talking up Twain's skills for a long time and I have never had a changes to hear his sets, this was a welcome treat. In fact, I had to go some where in RL at the time Twain hit the decks so I cancelled my plans in order to hear him, (Only to find out that he posted this set for download a few days later....LOL! -- Dead fuck 5 mix "Full moon party Haad Rin SL "). Anywhoo!! This set is FUCKING amazing, I just love it. Twain Decosta is a skilled mix master, his flow is smooth and his mixes tight. He has surprising twists and turns, builds and drops. This set is fun and energetic, full of life and love, I can tell he was having a good time.

Twain hit us with three beautiful and pleasant surprises. First he dropped a Hybrid "If I Survive" remix, I just love Hybrid they are in my top five list of best music producers. Then he dropped a HUGE surprise for me, he played a remix of "Planet Soul". Now I just hate that track, I'm from Miami and that song was played out so much that now my ears bleed when I hear the original mix. BUT!... Twain played a super hot, super sexy remix that was blowing my mind. Then he just took me over the edge when he played "The Bells of Brighton"... OMG!! This tune is a classic progressive house track from 1994 or 1995. The version I know has a hip hop break down in the middle, but Twain play the pure version and just drove all the ravers crazy. The !!!!HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!'s and RUUUUUUGGGGGDAAAA's were in full affect. People were losing there minds to this set, and Twain was just loving it. He knew he was killing the crowd in SL and I'm sure he was doing the same to the club goers on the beach in Thailand. Twain Decosta is now on my short list of great SL DJ's, and I look forward to hearing more from him.

DC-10 / Terrace opened today after weeks of anticipation. Digital Nation and Maximus Mixers built a pretty impressive club venue and dance space. This has been a labor of love for Luisinho Rossini, who spent many night shaping and tweaking, and ignoring IMs to make this venue perfect. Digital Francis, the owner of the SIM, TPed me in a few times before the opening so I got a chance to see the developments in progress. Digital and Luis are two very passionate Italians, Digital from NYC and Luis from Italy, so their attention to detail was on point and the creativity high. Their common heritage and love of music has created a club owned DJing force that is Maximus!

The parcel is a mini rave space. The Terrace is an air hanger and DC-10 is an open warehouse. They packed both space with DJs spinning for 12 hours. The Line up included Luigy Balhaus, Artec Amat, Luis Rossini, Goodes Bade, Steve Parker Parx, Digital Francis, DeejayAstaroth Amat, IONIC Benton, Jamix Saenz, 2NDThoughts Brand and Ribe OH. There was something for everyone and walking between clubs was fun, there's a carousel, bar, and few pose balls.

DC-10 is an open space with the DJ booth to the far back corner of the room. The walls are painted pink and there are black beam supports. It really feels like an open space that was gutted and dry walled. There are no lighting effects, so the lag is limited. The Maximus boys really put some effort in creating a unique space.

I love The Terrace, it is an open fun space. It has the feeling of a temporary event space that should only be up for the weekend. Even though it's a an air hanger, it's very comfortable with couches and beds to relax on. The Terrace the perfect space to chill out in. Ribe Oh and Ionic Benton both delivered great relaxing sets. I had fun walking between the two spaces. I had even more fun shouting in open chat from one space to the other, and every so often I would hear/read a !!!HOOOOOOOO!!! or a !!!TUNE!!!. If you get a notice for DC-10 make sure you check it out. I look forward to the parties to come.

House Music In Second Life

Today I had the pleasure of hearing Miss Dj Bratty Britt spin her brand of progressive and soulful house. House music is very interesting in SL, there are only a couple of house DJs that can spin that sound well. House is more of a real life sound, one that you feel with all your body and soul. A sound that allows you to vibe with the person next to you in the club or by the pool. In Second Life it's hard to created the body/soul vibe with out sounding cheesy. But today Miss Bratty Britt was proving me wrong. She was throwing down some fun take-you-to-church jacking house tunes. I really enjoyed listening to her flow and quick fun mixes. She was able to give me the feeling of cutting a rug in a pack club. Britt is very good and if you ever get the chance to check her out make sure you bring your dancing shoes. =]

Init Hubble is such a popular SL DJ that he could book a set in a venue last minute and still attract a packed house. Now I don't know if today's set was planned or not, but let me tell you it was packed. Init again was in great form DJ wise, he was working is suggestive power like he always does. Making the girls moan and boys howl. But today... there was something off about Mr. Hubble... hmmm, he was missing his textures. He was all black, only his prims were rezzed... hair...glasses... shoes. I could tell this wasn't something intentional, Init's IM was very short and had annoyed vibe to it, SL can really suck sometimes. Bridgitte said he looked like a ninja, but I renamed him Black Phantom for the day. I have to tell you though, regardless of how Init looked or how he may have felt, he was slinging his dope beats with such grace and easy that it seems so easy. Today he maybe The Black Phantom.... but tomorrow and forever he will be The Dope Man, and me a Beat Junkie.

Greenies Home

Today was a special party day... Club G in Greenies Home showcased Init Hubble and YuzienBorn Janus for a four hour set of great tunes. This party had been a few weeks in the making and I was excited the day had finally come. When I arrived Init was in full swing bumping his Floorgasm tunes. I rezzing in front of an antique record player with a ramp leading to turntable that is Club G's dance floor. Greenies is a very popular sim and every time I have been my mini map always has green dots flowing around, but today my map was all green. The place was so packed an extra multicolored dances floor was added to accommodate all the of Init's "Beat Junkies". Now in order to get the best view of Greenies Home you must turn you graphic draw distance up to at least 300 meters, as I panned across the sim I could see avatars everywhere, it was pretty amazing.

Init Hubble was in full Greenies gear as a hip hop martian, and his two main Beat Junkies, Bridgitte Boucher and Ryz Uriza were alien AVs as well. Other avatars also shape shifted into aliens as the day progressed. These alien avatars are very cute and funny, Greenies is an SL brand so when you visit this sim you have the represent in full green glory. The sim owners must have made a kill this day. But I of course came dress as a cyber kitty with winged boots, green really isn't my color. LOL! =]

Init sets are some of the best in SL. Mr. Hubble is a true professional, even on his off days he's light years better then the average SL DJ. Señior Hubble's sound is a sexy blend of progressive house, electro and techno. He works his beats in such a way that people start to moan and suggest getting naked. His sound is hard and rhythmic, building to peaks then dropping to driving thrust, just like good sex. Init has the amazing ability to work the female avs into a sexual frenzy, discussions of gang bangs, boobies and penis begin to break out in open chat. Today's set at Club G was another example of Init's suggestive power, although since this was Greenies people kept the discussion to a PG-13 rating. This set was a little lighter then usual, he drop a few beautiful vocal tracks to compliment his darker driving tunes. This was one of his shorter turns in front of the table since it was a special event, but he left all who listened very satisfied and ready to take on the next great SL DJ.

YuzienBorn Janus, owner and creator of BORN Uber Store, was next on the decks. This guy's tunes are smokin' dope and hot boxing to the point of giving a great contact high to all that listen. He's sound is urban breaks, and the tracks are funky and bouncing. His mixing is fun and his flow is grooving. YuzienBorn spun electro/break beats, and jazzy city street tunes. This a rare sound for SL so hearing his set was a treat. It reminded me of Golden Gate Breaks, San Francisco's break beat sound. I would not be surprised if YuzienBorn's real life controller is from SF. Needless to say he set was great, different and a pleasure to hear. The only problem I had with the whole party was that it ended so fast. =]

Sterns / Home Review

Logged in today and got a notice about a Sterns tag team set going on in the Underground basement. Artec Amant and Andy Seiling were going hour for hour on the decks, to a packed house. Again the sound of choice was minimal/progressive/electro/techno, and A&A are masters of that tune delivery. Artec’s sets are likes works of art, like a journey to some abstract place. He works the crowd in surprising ways; he’ll have the bass line sedulity fade out till all that’s left are the bells while he still maintains the crowd’s energy, then slamming them with hard beats on the other side of the break. Artec sets flow, twist, turn and create shapes with sound. He mixes with great precision and is very creative with his track selection. I really enjoy Artec every chance I get to hear him.

This Sterns party would be the first time hearing Andy Seiling, and I was very pleased. He kicked it off with a bouncing beat and maintained that bounce all the way through his set. He seems to be a dancers DJ, bouncing kicks and thick bass keep dancers shaking. Toward the mid part of his set he dropped a vocal track with the lyric “picture air through the eyes”, this track was a beautiful contradiction. The sound was relaxing and sleepy, but the drive and energy were both amplified. He kept the sounds bumping, thumping, jumping and bouncing. His track selection is beautiful and twisted, and his mixing playful. Andy works the cross-fade, teasing and flirting with the sound while blending the tracks seamlessly.

Andy and Artec are a Second Life DJ force and attract a crowd no matter what SIM they are on. This Stern’s party was no exception, everyone was there or come by to listen and show support.

Toward the end of Andy’s set I get a notice that Ionic Benton was spinning at Home, so I took the taxi. I love the way Ionic spins; he’s a master at what he does. I’ve heard him many times before, and he has never been anything but excellent, and this set at Home was a true testament to that. Home is an interesting club, there are many rooms and it’s built like a maze, the only area that I know how to find is the main dance floor. Today Ionic was in the Aquarium room and I can never find it, so I had him TP me. I arrive to only four AVs rocking to his tunes, it turned out the landmark notice was broken and everyone was having issues finding this room. Needless to say Ionic was rocking his techno/electro beats and worked those four AVs, while others started to filter into the area.

The Home crowd is an interesting bunch, the most creative AVs always show up. These avatars are SL’s urban cyberpunk elite, and follow an unspoken rule of no open chat spam. Now I’m a gesture kind of girl and when a DJ is good I let them rip and express them often, but today I had to show a bit of restraint. But here’s the thing… Ionic can play to the wind and it would howl and moan to his set. Those elite avatars began to break their own rules. Ionic’s beats sound like they are being forged in a steel mill, because they are hard, but yet refined. His mixes are intelligent and thought provoking. He has the talent to create music while mixing the music. He held my attention for his entire set, which means it was pretty damn good. If you ever get a chance to catch him action make sure you turn it up to 11. =]

7th Cube

There are some pretty amazing builders in SL, I have been fortunate to meet a few of the best. Lonetorus Habilis is one of those SL creatives that's take your mental perception of physics and twist it inside out. She creates for the sake of creation, and never stops building. Lone will be floating in her color changing scan sphere, (a soap bubble), in the middle of the dance floor and building some crazy interactive object 2 Sims away.
Talk about multitasking! She's always creating and developing new toys and attachments. Lone is an Über Avatar...one of a kind. Since I've meet her she's has transformed from steam punk who would floated around in Pandora's box to a radioactive neko with soul searing eyes. She is a bright creature who's always playing with color, light and shapes. She resides on the anyMOTION2 sim and has her own slice of SL called 7th Cube.

7th Cube is Lone's lab... her testing grounds for impossible building designs, fractal light patterns, scripted dance floors, and meteor guns for your own mini apocalypse. The meteor gun fascinates me, it stirs up deep and profound feeling. When I first experienced the gun she was shooting it off in a event space she was building. At first I was scared and disturbed by the hard balls of fire bouncing over me, but after a few minutes I started to enjoy yet another not possible in real life SL experience.

The other day Lone teleported me over to help her test out the latest gun version. She gave me a black and white "wear me" box to put on and I switched to mouse view. OMG... What an experience... Shooting the gun felt so good, it's powerful, fast and just so cool. The hard fire ball shoots out in the direction you point, it projects to a distance and then starts it's fall with it's smoke tail following. If you click fast enough you start to have a meteor shower, it's just amazing, awesome and impressive.

Today I put on the gun and tried to shoot it on my land, but it scripted only to shoot on anyMOTION2 7th Cube. This is what appeared in open chat: 7th cube meteor gun mk4 (wear + press m): gun is disabled outside of 7th cube main sim! (anyMOTION 02). So I TPed to 7th Cube set my view to midnight and started shooting. That's when Lone IMed me and this conversation started....

Before logging out last night I did a little shopping with my friend TruthSeeker Young. He is updating his avatar and needed to find socks, so we went to Bare Rose. This was my first visit, and for sure not my last.

Bare Rose is a huge store with tons of costumes and outfits for male, female, neko and furies. At first I was a bit over whelmed with the amount of selection, and felt frozen at that entrance due to the lag from avatar over flow. But I soon started to camera around the store to see what they had.

The place is broken out into sections base on gender, style and type. I counted 7 sections in the female area, with 4 story walls covered with vendors. My favorite section is Japanese, I came back later and purchased 7 more of those looks. They had miniskirt kimono dresses and cyber-anime armour, I bought four of the geisha dresses.

Right at the entrance are two rows of vertical column vendors that sell both male and female costume looks. I immediately focused in on Dryer Gungirl, a stylist cowgirl equipped with a hair dryer and makeup tool belts. The outfit comes with a hat and in four different colors. I fell in love with the look so much I went shopping for cow girl boots right away.

I also bought Miss Quin a harlequin doll look. At first I wasn't sure to get this costume, but once I started to wear I fell head over heals for Bare Rose. Miss Quin is classic, timeless, sexy, sweet, and only $135L for four different colors.

Bare Rose's clothes are well crafted, the textures are clean and the attachments are very detailed. I'm so impressed with the amount of variety and the price... OMG... so cheap... $135L!

While shopping for cowgirl boots today, I was hit with a teleport from Treven Zabelin who was at Scoutlounge. I sent him a quick IM back letting know I would be there soon. Once I found the perfect set of shit kickers I took the tp and rezzed on the patio entrance of a beach front mansion.

Scoutlounge is a house music venue that plays very deep soulful church house and fun Ibiza house. The tunes are pretty good... with over 30 years of house samples, loops and dubs at play you are bound to hear something you like. But on this day the DJ wasn't doing it for me, the flow was not on and the mixes were a bit of a train wreak.

After 20 minutes of trying to find a groove and getting cat calls from Treven for looking like a cow girl, I messaged Bridgitte Boucher to find out where the party was. She suggest Ideal Flow at Kromatic. I just befriended Ideal a couple of weeks ago, and think I heard him once before, but this was the first time I would paid attention to Ideal the DJ. I told Treven I bouncing to Kromatic and he said he would follow.

We rezzed in front of a large steel cubed box that is Kromatic the club and next to it is an even larger white box with glass windows displaying classic minimal furniture. You can hear the tunes on the whole sim and my radar showed over 20 avatars inside, so I raced in to find a spot to dance.

Ideal is a minimal-progressive house-tehno-electro DJ, it seems to me the best DJs in SL mix that sound, minimal/electro is the groove of choice. Ideal's track select was amazing, he pulled out some very good tunes, they were more in the minimal side, but his flow from tune to tune was excellent. The sounds was hard & rockin'. One bit of criticism, I did feel his mixes were a bit too long and lacked some energy. I guess I like when a DJ teases the next track and then hits you with it hard, but that's really a taste thing.

Overall Ideal Flow was very much flowing, he was on point with the tunes and the vibe. He worked the crowd and set a nice musical tune to the dark wood and steel interior of Kromatic. He was able to maintain at least 14 avatars till the end, but I believe the place peaked with over 30 listening. I stayed till end, I rarely do that for SL DJs, but he had my ear and I was enjoying the set. I look forward to hearing him again soon. I'll keep you posted on more of SL's best DJs.

When I found Second Life, I never thought I would become addicted to an online game. A game. Just a game. That’s what I told myself the first few days I logged in. Well, after my first month of playing, and trying to figure out how to walk and fly without running into 12 other avatars at once, I learned that it was more than just a game….more than just pink and blue poseballs. The other avatars were real people who had real feelings, and real talents that still amaze me today. I have been in world for over a year now, and have not missed a day of logging in….yet.

I’m just a real life girl, living in a Second Life world. My name is Lavendar Jewell, and I’m an addict!

Ok, so now you know all about me….well, there is more, of course, but for now, that is a great start. I have learned so much about myself in Second Life, and have met some of the most incredible people there. Don’t get me wrong, I have also met my share of wackos…all part of the fun though…usually. For the most part, I am surrounded by amazing people from all over the world. And I have made friends in Second Life who have been there for me through it all.

My avatar, Lavendar, has become such a huge part of who I am. I rely on her to help me escape my reality when needed, to let me be creative when the mood strikes, and to be the shopping goddess that I want to be (but can’t afford to be) in real life. She is my expression of creativity. She has become so many things in Second Life: a world traveler, a bargain hunter, a creator, a photographer, and sometimes a dare devil. Being able to experience things in my Second Life, that I normally would not be able to do in my real life, has been the most exciting part of my avatar’s existence. The experiences are endless, and with a year of being in world, I have quite a few stories and memories to share…some happy, some sad, some painful, some liberating. Some I am willing to share, and some I am not. This ever changing world has endless possibilities.

Someone once said to me…Second Life is like your own personal dream that you can control. Interesting thought….

Meet Kandy Roussel!

When I first heard of Second Life I really didn't think much of it. I assumed it was full of lonely online gamers with too much time on their hands. The people who informed about SL were my 53-year-old bosses, who were trying to flip a buck in world. I took one look at the home page with it's call to join and I said to myself..."I have no time for this!". Fast forward two years and one Discovery Channel special later, (Discovery Channel: Rise of the Video Game - Level 5), and I now have the SL Viewer loaded and log every day. The main draw for me was owning property, and exchanging Lindens into Dollars. YES MONEY!! LOL.

Well, I soon found out that SL is a massive universe with thousands of Sims and avatars. People from all over the world with the most amazing content and interactions imaginable. Being able to express yourself in ways not possible in real life and experience situations only possible in movies was intoxicating and alluring.

Second Life became my new social outlet, I have met and continue to meet some of the most amazing people this planet has to offer. Creative and progressive souls. People who use SL for many purposes, but they all have one common bond... the desire for human connection and self expression.

Kandy is my ultimate self expression, my Digital Doll, my virtual Barbie. She is open to all I can imagine and she's willing to be ultimate version of myself. She's is ever changing and learning, she has become my creative outlet. I'm excited for her future as an SL resident.

My favorite SL actives are shopping and dressing, Kandy is never the same girl twice... my inner fashionista has emerged. Exploring creative Sims is the most exciting part of SL for me, there are thousands of Sims to teleport to and discover. I also love the SL party scene, there is a rich selection of sounds and the people willing to deliver those sounds. The venues are creative and visually amazing. The social web that is my friends list mostly revolves around Techno and House music, with a little Drum and Bass for good measure. This blog will be mostly dedicated to the great parties, music and people of SL.

Kandy will be reporting and reviewing the happenings, as well as announcing up coming events. There will be Digital Doll contributors, female avatars who are controlled by real life females. These contribution will tell tales from this crazy realm and try to explain the addicting appeal of this amazing universe.

I hope you keep coming back to read, see and hear the crazy free-for-all that is Second Life.
